Subnautica hits that balance of dread and discovery so perfectly. The deeper you go, you are constantly encountering new unknowns, while finding ways to cope with old challenges. And honestly, most of the time you’re not in danger all - but the potential for danger is always there.
survivor games seem to be your horror game, Minecraft you had to get Mal to save you from the scary zombie sounds, and Subnautica... well its all your greatest fears rolled into one nice little bundle of joy.
A shame the melon wasn’t ready.. For honeydew and other small melons I usually go by the smell, It should smell sweet before you even cut it. Hope the rest will be better! I don’t really like warm weather I’m a little jealous that you can grow melons in your garden 😝
I gotta say it's fascinating, that fear of subnautica. It's not a shame whether people are scared or not, but I heard so much about how terrifying it can be to play the game, before I actually did. It was relatively recently when I first played and beat Subnautica, and genuinely it didn't really scare me (aside from the fear of losing my ships and having to take the time to re-build everything). Typical fear of dying in game aside, it just didn't hit me in that way. I don't have a fear of water or the ocean in most regular capacities and i've always been fascinated with underwater habitation, so maybe the fear aspect just didn't resonate with me, but it's just fascinating how differently people can experience the same game. All about life experiences and different people (because I do have plenty of things that absolutely do scare me).
I am... so dumb. This whole time when you said melon I thought you meant watermelon. I was looking at them thinking "theres no way thats ready. its too pale." and when you cut it up I was even more confused like "what the hell is that? thats not a watermelon!!" It wasn't until Mal said honey that it clicked for me.
When I was growing up in the UK in the early 90s, honeydew was the only kind of melon we knew of. I went to California in 1992 and was astonished by the fact that the hotel buffets had cantaloupe and watermelon, I'd never seen them before except maybe watermelon in American cartoons. Of course now all of them are available here too.
Pantyhose embrace, Melons rise with gentle grace- Garden’s soft support. I am sharing a relevant haiku on every Stephen/Mal video until he and/or Mal play LoZ: Echoes of Wisdom at the end of the month or whenever they play it. But I'm hoping it'll be pretty soon after release :)

I love the idea that all these melons are chilling out in little hammocks :)
That melon 🍈 was a learning experience 😅, least y'all know a little bit better for the plenty of other ones growing in. Hope Mal's trip goes well!
Hope this family trip for Mal is good and not anywhere near as traumatic as the last one!
Sad that the first melon wasn't at least a moderate success, but it's a good thing that you still have a bunch left! That's super exciting.

Woow a wild rabbit! How cute!!
I find it hilarious how the melons and tomatoes have taken over your trellis (and the rest of the garden) when that wasn't the plan AT ALL lol
im unreasonably excited for stephen to meet some of the even scarier things in subnautica 😭

What's the scarier part of Subnautica, the big fish in the dark depths or Hayley popping up in chat to criticise your base building style? :p

This is the closest we'll get to Stephen exploring the Depths since he's also terrified by that
